£23,000 - £25,000 (Pro Rata) plus bonus & benefits. Additional private hourly coaching also available on top

Job Description

What's the purpose of the job?

Full responsibility in leading and operating the Junior and Adult tennis programme of a successful DL Club and giving our members a fabulous experience every day, 7 days a week.

What will I be doing?

  • Leading the team to deliver member obsessed service and engagement at all times.
  • Leading the team to deliver DL Ways of Working and legislation at all times.
  • Ensuring that the member experience, member usage, member participation and member value for money is maximised through instructor quality, class/event consistency of delivery and communication and great equipment and facilities standards.
  • Leading the team to ensure that a dynamic and progressive programme of adult racquet activities is provided that matches the needs of our members in terms of ability level and type.
  • Ensuring that new racquets members receive the Racquets Welcome and that beginners are encouraged to join the Fast Track course.
  • Leading the team to ensure that a dynamic and progressive programme of junior racquet activities is provided that matches the needs of our members in terms of ability level and type.
  • Proactively develop the playing strengths and talent of the junior members, towards future succession.
  • Ensuring new child members receive the All Stars Tennis Taster and Family Welcome, working with the Family Manager.
  • Develop the quarterly adult racquets and events training calendar to promote product knowledge and expertise across team members and peers.
  • Develop and manage teams, box leagues, ladders and find partner schemes.
  • Ensuring that my team have the experience, up to date knowledge and understanding of the products and services we offer in the club.
  • Ensuring that all internal and external coaches have appropriate qualifications and insurance.
  • Knowing my club and engaging with members about their activities, seeking ways to improve their experience of DL at every opportunity.
  • Utilising channels of communication such as Member Experience Tablet, employee Engagement Surveys, comment cards, member forums, mystery members etc. to improve the member/team member experience.
  • Taking ownership to resolve members' queries or complaints.
  • Making sure that my team and my members are in a safe and healthy environment at all times.
  • Ensuring that we recruit great people and develop a high performance team.
  • Leading my team to ensure that revenue and participation targets budgets are achieved and that costs are minimised.
  • Manage stock, equipment repairs and ordering systems, following our operating and finance procedures.
  • Working with the self employed coaches, partners and contractors to ensure consistent delivery of their Service Level Agreements.
  • Working with the Lawn Tennis Association to maximise all available support and knowledge and to promote DL.
  • Support the reception team to ensure that courts, lessons and classes are compliant to the bookings policy.
  • Leading my team to contribute to the open and close procedures for the club.

    How will I be measured?

  • Observing me and my team delivering excellent service and engagement with members.
  • Delivering individual personal objectives set by the General Manager annually.
  • Observing me and my team's speed and efficiency to react to incidents, issues or complaints.
  • What members, team members or mystery members tell us about me and my team, our lessons, programmes and our facilities and equipment.
  • My performance and my team's performance review against our 6 Values.
  • How well my team and I follow DL Ways of Working.
  • Compliance to the DL Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Achieving revenue targets and member participation targets and minimising costs to budgets.
  • Contribution to the clubs profit and loss performance and member count.
  • Achieving compliance against all legislative and company audits.
  • Monthly club visits from Regional Manager and/or any other Club Support visitors.

    What qualifications, skills and experience do I need?

  • LTA Level 3 qualified.
  • A few years experience as a Tennis Coach.
  • Experience in delivering and programming group coaching.
  • The ability to engage and organise large groups.
  • Can show a genuine passion when engaging with individuals.
  • Can demonstrate excellence in customer service.
  • Strong listening and collaboration skills.
  • Team player.

    Overview of the Venue

    David Lloyd is proud to be Europe's largest health and fitness operator and is thrilled to be ranked as one of the Sunday Times best big companies to work for. This role is based at the Swindon Club, where we have 4 indoor courts, 3 outdoor courts plus badminton courts. Person specification

    You will have bags of passion, energy and enthusiasm and have a love for Tennis. In this role you will form part of the club management team and will be responsible for regular one to one meetings with your direct reports. You will ensure your team are maximizing the training opportunities available to help them to grow, develop and succeed. You will also have the ability to engage and organise large groups, show a genuine passion when engaging with individuals. Demonstrate excellence in customer service and have strong listening and collaboration skills. A team player with plenty of experience coaching tennis. Must be minimum Level 3.
